Digital Operations Senior Specialist

The Digital Operations Senior Specialist will provide project management for enterprise customer-centric marketing strategy for engaging directly with JCPenney customers to accelerate the path to customer interactions, engaging new customer segments and growing our relationship with existing and future customers. This role will work with Marketing and IT leadership, project managers, development leads, change management, testing leads and business leads on omni-channel initiatives. Currently planned tracks include program level release management for JCP Rewards, JCP.com, end-to-end management of large-scale programs, process improvement, program governance and budget management.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the overall project schedule and milestone tracking tools to track progress against the baseline work plan, working with delivery leads for each track
  • Manage project-level planning to track milestones and deliverables impacting multiple projects, releases, tracks and dependencies (i.e. coordinate with testing center on end-to-end test planning across a release, coordinate with business leads and change management leads for training requirements across tracks)
  • Support work plan generation and maintenance
  • Support weekly project status report generation (accomplishments, in progress, risks, issues, metrics) and monthly Steering Committee decks
  • Facilitate weekly / monthly manager / leadership meetings
  • Manage project level risk and issue management process
  • Support project controls, change control activities, and communications
  • Develop project management processes and metrics
  • Utilizing standard program management processes / tools, assess program status and provide recommendations and execute on course corrections as needed (don't just measure, actively engage to fix the problem!)

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:
  • 3-5 years of experience managing multiple projects
  • Highly motivated and self-directing individual who have prior experience in large, complex software implementations in a matrix environment
  • Experience managing release cycles or programs involving multiple project managers and cross-functional development/testing teams
  • Project Management experience in software development
  • Hands-on experience managing various software development methodologies and principles (Agile, Iterative, Waterfall)
  • Excellent ability to communicate (written and verbal) with cross-functional business and technical teams
  • Excellent project management competencies
  • Advanced proficiency with project management tools (e.g. MS Project)
  • Creative problem solving, organization, attention to detail, flexibility and adaptability are crucial to the success of this role
  • Previous experience as a Scrum Master would be of high value
  • Previous experience managing project in an ecommerce or retail environment is a plus
