Architects at JCPenney are responsible for driving Technology & Good Practices in Engineering in their respective teams. You work with a team of software engineers and will partner with other key groups, including Payments, Store Non-POS systems, Loyalty, Pricing, POS business, Scrum Masters, Enterprise Architecture, Store Operations, POS Support teams and others. Going beyond your role & contributing to make the organization & business better is a non-negotiable expectation.


  • Experienced professional with good knowledge of Retail distributed POS systems.
  • Experience in writing and hosting on Cloud platforms like Azure etc and serverless architecture.
  • Excellent knowledge of databases like SQL Server 20xx, NoSQL etc.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in developing Web and Windows based apps using .NET 4.x/.Net Core framework.
  • Strong knowledge on OOPS framework using C#
  • Strong knowledge in MVC, Angular or REACT, JQuery frameworks
  • Advantage would be given to candidates with exposure to Retail POS peripherals like Ingenico, VeriFone etc.
  • Believer of Automation.
  • Work closely with the Lead Engineers to conceive, create & design a cost-effective POS solutions
  • Responsible for Scaling, Performance & Quality for the platform and the overall deliverables of the POS team.
  • Drive technology & tool choices for your team & be responsible for them.
  • Identify industry best practices for services based architecture that can be applied to JCP POS systems.
  • Driving the adoption of these best practices around coding, design, quality, performance in your team. 
  • Experiment with new & relevant technologies and tools, drive adoption within the team, 
  • Advocate dev standards & frameworks in a test-driven development environment using tools like NUnit and/or XUNIT to maximize quality, efficiency & productivity
  • Promote and evolve Agile Scrum methodology including lean requirements, delivery-focused rapid sprints, continuous integration (CI), continuous deployments (CD).
  • Quick & Excellent Problem Solving skills for complex & large scale problems.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong professional and personal network of relevant technical talent.


Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field required, Master’s degree preferred
