Merchandise Sr. Project Specialist - Footwear

The Merchandise Sr. Project Specialist will be supporting the daily purchasing of items for a footwear category. Reporting directly to the division’s Buyer and working alongside other Sr. Assistant Buyers.  Ensure accuracy in the ordering process while facilitating communication between vendors and the corresponding buyers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for buy plan by channel for their categories
  • Audits item set-up, approves content
  • Creates purchase orders/work orders for flagship and stores
  • Partners with marketing on style-outs, provides input on event participation
  • Partners with suppliers to ensure timeliness of digital assets loaded in a timely manner.  Turns in marketing samples, manages on-time arrival
  • Conducts digital inventory and site audits
  • Provides input on pricing determinations and keys pricing and signing for flagship and stores
  • Assists Buyer with building assortment plan
  • Assists Buyer with category history and market share analysis
  • Assists in the development and implementation of major programs
  • Ongoing communication with suppliers for all needed information
  • Maintains an up-to-date awareness of developments and trends in merchandising
  • Establishes and maintains item plans for all key items

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • 3+ years retail buying experience; preferably with a large organization in a similar role
  • College degree preferred. Graduate training in management or in a merchandising-related discipline is desirable though not mandatory
  • Retail planning experience preferred
  • Proficient in MS word and Excel
  • Ability to recognize, analyze and quantify market trends
  • Energetic self-starter; very comfortable working both independently and within a team
  • Detail-oriented; highly organized
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Ability to multi-task with effective time-management skills
  • Collaborative nature with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Excellent organizational, communication and decision-making skills
