Photo Studio Operations Manager

The Photo Studio Operations Manager will support and assist the Studio Project Manager with day-to-day studio operations, assists in the management of financial operations, workflows and increasing operational efficiencies. The successful candidate will be highly organized, and detail oriented with the ability to influence and support Photo Studio Operations strategic planning. This candidate will lead, drive and develop a broad teams of freelance digital technicians supporting On Model and Still Life photography in various capacities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of Photo Digital Tech processes, workflows and systems including Capture One Pro, Adobe Creative Suite and other file management and processing tools and workflows.
  • Manages the coordination, procurement, and repair of technical assets, equipment and talent for successful execution of photography
  • Creates lighting diagrams for photo set consistency
  • Researches and approves purchase and rental of prop equipment, set parts, and software.  
  • Manages the pool of freelance processors and digital techs ensuring quality and on-time delivery of all images. This includes creating workflow documents and training techs on new processes  
  • Provides tech support for all photo sets and the Looklet Studio
  • Oversees in-house server for photo studio assets
  • Monitors studio supplies and manages inventory and budget
  • Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • Bachelors degree in Photography or related field
  • 5-7 years experience with a relevant background in professional digital photography, retail photo studio operations or related field
  • Productivity-focused and quick problem solver with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Mac OS, Capture One, Photoshop and Microsoft Excel proficient.
  • Expert knowledge of photographic techniques such as studio lighting, equipment and photographic gear and photographic composition.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear direction and set priorities for studio operations.
  • Must be a self starter, easily adaptable and flexible
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment.
  • Solid project management skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Confident leader, capable of managing a team as well as holding strong cross-functional partnership with  Image Management, Retouching, Creative, and Production teams
  • Experience with Looklet and or Shotflow are a plus.
