Senior Java Developer  - Payment Systems

Senior Engineers at JCPenney are responsible for developing Quality solutions and at scale and speed. You work with a team of software engineers and will partner with other key groups, including Payments, Store Non-POS systems, Loyalty, Pricing, POS business, Scrum Masters, Enterprise Architecture, Store Operations, production support teams and others. Going beyond your role & contributing to make the organization & business better is a non-negotiable expectation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Experienced Senior Engineer with complete know how of building scalable system based on the Microservices architecture.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in building Microservices using various Spring Frameworks – SpringBoot, Spring Batch, Spring Web etc and hosting on Cloud platforms like AWS or on within data centre.
  • Excellent knowledge of databases like PostGre SQL or any Relational Databases.
  • Understanding of Payment systems – Authorization, Settlement, Chargeback processing etc is an added advantage.
  • Solid coding skills with ability to drive teams through massive refactoring exercise & improve coding standards across large code bases. 
  • Candidate with exposure to Tandem platform as a Secondary skill would be preferred.
  • Believer of Automation.
  • Drive code reviews, design reviews, architecture discussions within the team. 
  • Responsible for Scaling, Performance & Quality for the platform and the overall deliverables of the Payments team.
  • Drive technology & tool choices for your team & be responsible for them.
  • Identify industry best practices for services based architecture that can be applied to JCP Payment systems.
  • Driving the adoption of these best practices around coding, design, quality, performance in your team. 
  • Experiment with new & relevant technologies and tools, drive adoption within the team, 
  • Advocate dev standards & frameworks in a test-driven development environment to maximize quality, efficiency & productivity
  • Promote and evolve Agile Scrum methodology including lean requirements, delivery-focused rapid sprints, continuous integration (CI), continuous deployments (CD).
  • Quick & Excellent Problem Solving skills for complex & large scale problems.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong professional and personal network of relevant technical talent.

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field required, Master’s degree preferred
