Senior Technical Project Manager - Stores POS Delivery

The Senior Technical Project Manager will report to the Sr. Manager - Stores POS Delivery and will be part of the team that is responsible for application portfolio management and development that focuses on building and configuring software solutions for Point Of Sale, Mobile Point Of Sale platforms and Other Applications operating within the store environment. This entails: (1) solving complex business problems by strategizing, roadmap planning, selecting, architecting/designing, building and implementing technology. (2) portfolio management for entire business applications suite (3) actively managing the on-going health and supportability of the portfolio in alignment with IT Ops & Support, (4) partnering with other IT and business teams to deliver end to end technology solutions for JCPenney.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own multiple project related work efforts (business requirements, functional requirements, best practice, process definition etc.) along with other departmental tasks. Must be able to switch from one project to another seamlessly.
  • Lead the project team for the implementation of new capabilities across the stores portfolio through close coordination with the business team.
  • Drive the portfolio ownership and management with application/technology health check, licensing & maintenance, budgeting and forecasting, portfolio metrics, change management, security & compliance and partnership with shared services to achieve the business objectives and goals.
  • Own and Manage execution to ensure on time and on budget project/program delivery
  • Prepare project charter, project funding, and capital request documents for the portfolio
  • Lead and consolidate the project monthly financial forecast variance.  Prepare appropriate reports for management.Follow rigorous Agile, SDLC and project management life cycle and best practices, comply with internal compliance related processes and adhere to change control and problem management procedures
  • Work with geographically dispersed engineering teams ensuring remote teams can understand and follow the requirements

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • 4+ years of Project Management experience managing Technology projects using Agile/SCRUM/Iterative methods
  • Highly motivated and self-directing individual who has experience managing projects 
  • Excellent ability to communicate (written and verbal) with multiple levels of leadership as well as cross-functional business, technical teams and stores
  • Creative problem solving, organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility and adaptability are key to the success of this role
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment 
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from other team members 
  • Retail domain experience will be desirable
  • Experience with Project Management tools such as Oracle PM/OTL, Clarity a plus
  • Minimum of bachelor degree (preferably in MIS, Computer Science, or Business Administration)
