Accounting Analyst - Payroll Tax Analyst

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for overseeing payroll tax projects, resolution of escalated issues, reconciliations, and any other reporting and compliance tasks as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the accuracy and analysis of payroll/payroll tax/equity/benefits accounting and reconciliations in the Payroll Department.
  • Able to validate/analyze/forecast the payroll tax data produced by the PeopleSoft payroll system.
  • Provides expertise in accounting and finance activities surrounding payroll.
  • Works with department management to identify and implement best reporting practices through process improvements.
  • Assists department management in accounting training and skill development of accounting staff.
  • Reviews trial balance and other financial reporting. Identifies and corrects reporting issues in a timely manner.

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • Requires ability to communicate orally and in writing correctly and concisely, and/or use arithmetic with accuracy and reasonable speed.
  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills and appropriately applies proven solutions.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
  • Intermediate to advanced analytical, computer and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of procedures and systems that apply to assigned area so that workload and personnel decisions can be made in absence of supervisor.
  • Requires an intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office tools. Comfortable working in a team environment and resolving issues directly with business partners and leadership. 
  • Will work with with Oracle Financials, PeopleSoft HR and Payroll, Peoplesoft Query, Microsoft Office, and Account Reconciliations.
  • Work with third parties on resolving issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent field is preferred
