Product Development Assistant - Women's

The Product Development Assistant supports the Product Development (PD) team by developing close working relationships with MAT, Design, Technical Design and Sourcing; initiating and following-up on correspondence, communication, and processes to maintain workflow.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Inputs PD information into the product packages (e.g., packaging, hang tags).
  • Inputs Indirect Supplier information. Updates color and trim pages and pre-loads from one season to another (applicable to Design area).
  • Tracks samples using the on-line sample log and tracks expenses. Works directly with team to organize, purge, and display all samples, including sample counter. Processes all received packages and ensures delivery to appropriate manager. Maintains sample rooms, including movement of samples and shipping packages.
  • Submits packaging development requests (PDRs) and follows up on all PDR approvals and/or edits, as applicable. Attends weekly packaging meetings, when appropriate.
  • Assists team with the preparation and proofing of necessary plans, materials, data, and reports for assigned tasks. Communicates approval of Red Tags and Trim Cards to overseas offices and/or indirect suppliers on approved garments/merchandise.
  • Prepares, maintains and updates data, reports and records required by management via PD. Assists team with online and in-store competitive research and compiles reports based on findings.
  • Schedules and sets appointments, arranges meetings, and maintains manager’s calendar, as applicable.
  • Arranges domestic/international travel and works with manager for visa and passport renewals.
  • Updates travel profiles and maintains budget log for all travel expenses.
  • Assists design managers with the development process by ordering, monitoring, and tracking fabric development samples. Assists design managers by setting up the seasonal color palette and communicating necessary information to International Buying Offices.

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • Requires application of special knowledge and pertinent techniques for work assignments including communication, building relationships, managing work.
  • Requires a general understanding of basic JCP systems, processes, and operations as they pertain to principal activities.
  • Requires thorough familiarity with departmental, divisional, or Company policy.
  • Requires proficiency in MS software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and other standard office equipment for recording, storing, analyzing, retrieving, and presenting information.
  • Specific positions may require advanced training in subject matter.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in similar tasks is required
