Senior Manager - Business Intelligence

The Sr. Manager of Business Intelligence will play a pivotal role in JCPenney’s global technology team by building and running the Analytics Technology team in Bangalore, helping create a global working model for analytics in partnership with the Director of the group, and maturing the operating model in partnership with multiple Analytics teams in the business. Reporting to this leader will be individual contributor data engineers and visualization developers in Bangalore. This role will report to the Director of Analytics in the Plano office. The ideal candidate will be influential with their peers and Architects in the US and Bangalore in defining JCPenney’s Analytics strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead US team that supports JCPenney Business Intelligence & Analytics platforms and solutions
  • Partners with Bangalore Based Business Intelligence & Analytics teams to deliver on JCPenney Business Intelligence & Analytics Roadmap
  • Engage and partner with technology teams as needed for successful project deliveries
  • Manage 10 to 15 individual contributors directly
  • Develop associates through goal setting, ongoing performance feedback, training and development plans, career path discussions and identification of project assignments to further develop skill sets
  • Ensure process and quality standards are achieved within the team
  • Serve as an escalation point for roadblocks slowing down or impeding delivery objectives
  • Manage project financials, budget forecasts, and staffing plans for the Bangalore team
  • Identify and champion internal / external best practices, tools, and ideas to drive constant growth and innovation within the JCP BI&A space

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • 3 to 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in Information Technology, prefer at least 2 year in a USA-based Global Inhouse Center (GIC)
  • Highly motivated and self-directing individual who has prior experience in large, complex enterprise BI&A solution sets
  • Experience managing Big Data platform
  • Experience in retail desired
  • Strong communication (oral and written), with an ability to convey complex results in an easy to understand manner
  • Drives results and has strong accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to stay abreast of industry trends, tools and techniques.
  • Practical experience in leading technical teams with extensive knowledge of SDLC and IT project management processes
  • Experience managing project financials, budget forecasts, and staffing plans
  • Demonstrated leadership managing/leading a diverse team of people in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in Snowflake and Data warehouse migration
  • Experience with a wide range of data warehouse and data lake environments
  • Experience with enterprise-scaled reporting offerings
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field
