General Description

HR Analytics/Operations Lead  

Manages the workload of the HR Analytics/HR Operations team for successful planning, execution, implementation, and support of key deliverables.  Additionally, this role will serve as a subject matter expert for data related projects and have an ability to extract key insights from complex and large data sets. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Leads the organization of team workload, resulting in a strong customer-oriented HR Analytics/HR Operations team.  This includes prioritizing projects, processes, requests, reports and cross-team processes and procedures 

  • Provide ongoing training and support as needed 

  • Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results 

  • Shares responsibility for key deliverables, including reports and cross-team processes; exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results 

  • Develops and presents data analysis based on business needs.  Manages realistic timeline expectations for project completion with client groups 

  • Queries and mines large data sets to discover transaction patterns, examines data and filter for targeted information - using traditional as well as predictive/advanced analytic methodologies  

  • Actively lead in the implementation and execution of projects, applications and programs as assigned.   

  • Partner with business teams by facilitating requirements-gathering efforts, configuring systems to business specifications, and translating technical requirements for developers. 

  • Develops solutions to streamline and automate reporting processes and procedures. Continually reviews and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing reports and dashboards, and develop strategies for enhancement 

  • Partners with the Home Office HR Systems team to identify issues, form hypotheses, analyze data, and synthesize conclusions into recommendations.  

  • Provides data and analysis to influence highly complex decisions based on analytics  

 

Competencies, Qualifications and Accomplishments 

  • Team builder, team player and project leader.  The Lead will have the personal drive, passion and enthusiasm to successfully build peer, business and team relationships to maintain a cohesive working environment   

  • Proactive and positive interaction and leadership style, with a strength in influencing without authority.   

  • Good communication, documentation and presentation skills, most importantly across business lines such as end users and Information Technology. 

  • Serve as a liaison between HR and IT ensuring business requirements and issues and addressed through technology and/or business process design.  This includes extensive communication and partnership with end-users to diagnose and resolve system problems. 

  • Develops and presents analysis with actionable recommendations on initiatives to influence leaders through data, analytics, and thoughtful interpretation of findings 

  • Participates in weekly status calls with the Home Office HR Systems team 

  • Point person for discussions with business partners on possible process improvements where systems can be utilized and eliminate manual process. 

  • Experience with PS HRMS version 9.2 is required  

  • Strong process orientation (consistent execution, quality output and process improvement) 

  • Ability to proactively identify and build business/system knowledge and provide solutions to business issues. 

  • Previous JCPenney experience, work in human resources-related activities and/or management consulting are desirable, though not required 

  • Assist in the ongoing development of team members and provide oversite on work activities 

  • Ensure company policies and procedure are adhered to within the department 

  • Monitor project; Timelines, Resources, Communication, and Testing 

  • Expert skills in Oracle SQL, OBIEE, Oracle Analytics, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.  

  • Microsoft SharePoint or related data management program.  

  • Experience with predictive modeling and other statistical methods  

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field Graduate training is desirable though not mandatory 

  • 4-6 years’ experience in data analytics, reporting, data insights, PeopleSoft or related Human Capital Management systems
