Lead Business Analyst - Merchandise, Design & Sourcing Portfolio

The Lead Business Analyst will report to Sr. Manager – Merchandise, Design & Sourcing Portfolio and will be part of the team that is responsible for Application portfolio management and development that focuses on building and configuring software solutions for omnichannel Item systems. This entails: (1) strategizing, roadmap planning, selecting, architecting/designing, building and implementing technology solutions to solve complex business problems.(2) portfolio management for entire business applications suite (3) actively managing the on-going stability and supportability of the portfolio in alignment with IT Ops & Support, (4) partnering with other IT and business teams to deliver end to end technology solutions for JCPenney. The team provides IT solutions to JCP Merchandising and Product Development/Sourcing business clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead analysis, requirement gathering, use case creation, scope management, process improvement, test case creation for medium to large size projects/programs through all phases of the SDLC.
  • Expert and point-of-contact in core business capabilities, processes, and applications for the Item portfolio.
  • Drive portfolio ownership by working with users to understand strategies and operations in order to develop technology capability roadmaps that are aligned with business/domain roadmaps.
  • Demonstrates breadth and depth of techniques and tools for one or many of the following: use case modeling, data modeling, E2E business process modeling, process mapping, E2E business scenarios.
  • Provides mentorship and coaching to junior analysts.
  • Works with geographically diverse locations

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • 10+ years of IT Business Analysis experience in large multi-channel retail company with preference for direct experience in Merchandising Technology with functional knowledge of merchandise planning & allocation or sourcing systems. Experience with JIRA is preferred.
  • Experience owning BA responsibilities (as described above) for the full software development lifecycle for large multi-year projects and/or multiple overlapping shorter-term projects. Ability to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to connect with business SMEs, end users, IT partners, and 3rd party software vendors. Able to effectively convey critical information to various levels within the organization. Effectiveness in sharing knowledge across the organization, driving best practices, and coaching junior team members.
  • IIBA Certification a PLUS.
