Customer and Marketing Insights Analyst

The Consumer Insights Analyst supports JCPenney’s Marketing team by performing critical market and consumer research projects. The role will help inform key business decisions by delivering customer-focused insights and recommendations. This is a unique posting for a professional looking to gain experience in both consumer research and marketing strategy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Primarily support and execute various quantitative and qualitative consumer research projects.
  • Synthesize multiple sources of consumer and market information into meaningful conclusions and recommendations supporting key business initiatives.
  • Manage and partner with third-party research vendors.
  • Perform relevant project management tasks like gathering and tabulating data from multiple sources and organizing research assets (e.g., images, product samples).

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with record of academic achievement; MBA/MS, a plus but not required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in marketing research.
  • Displays a general understanding of various research methods (quantitative and qualitative) and how they can be used to address business questions.
  • Proven ability to interpret and synthesize large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Has a natural curiosity and the drive to understand the “whys” behind the data.
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency and accountability for details and accuracy.
  • Communicates with clarity and confidence.
  • Manages a variety of projects simultaneously and produces high-quality deliverables under tight timelines in a dynamic unstructured environment with supervision.
  • Strong analytical and data visualization abilities using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in SPSS a plus
