General Description

Senior Analyst  

 

Primary Responsibilities 

 

  • The ideal candidate must have a strong background in data analysis, including experience extracting and manipulating data using SQL, leveraging advanced Excel features for data analysis, and producing digestible business intelligence and actionable information.  

  • Understand data sources to determine the correct source(s) and logic to ensure accurate, efficient and timely deliverables. 

  • Should be comfortable to work with large volumes of transactional data. 

  • Interface with US based Home Office P&A Operations representatives to validate business requirements/requests for analysis and present intermediate and final analytical results. 

  • Determine best method to gather, model, manipulate and present data. Gather business requirements and translates business questions into requirements 

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable/automated/user-friendly reports to support ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. which drive key business decisions. 

  • Build stable and scalable solutions to extract data from diverse systems and transform extremely large data-sets into actionable business information, including visualization tools. 

  • Communicate to share knowledge and findings. Presents results in a manner that the business partners can understand, ensuring interpretation, appropriate detail and usability. 

  • Prioritize and balance multiple activities in parallel and communicate status proactively to manage stakeholder expectations. 

  • Ability to collaborate across teams to solve business problems. 

  • Ability to coach and mentor JCP teammates to accelerate skill development, business understanding and overall goal achievement. 

  • This role requires attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong understanding of financial and productivity concepts, independence to work with minimal direction and ability to rapidly prototype dashboards and reports. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 
 
Required: 
 
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or related technical field 
- 5+ years of professional experience in business analytics, business intelligence (BI) or comparable retail analyst position handling large, complex data sets 

-Intermediate to advanced SQL experience writing complex queries 

- Analyze and explore data in the Hadoop ecosystem and provide strategic recommendations. 

-Strong experience in multiple analytics tools such as: SQL, Excel, R, Hadoop/Hive, Tableau or equivalent technologies. 
- Creative problem solving, organization, attention to detail, flexibility and adaptability 

- Advanced analytical skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple large scale projects in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. 

- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to work with a high degree of autonomy 
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) – English
