Privacy Sr. Analyst - Legal

The Privacy Sr. Analyst provides support for the JCPenney Privacy Program to drive readiness for current and upcoming privacy rules and regulations with focus areas in Privacy by design, training and communications, business operations support, and Technology support and coordination.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of JCPenney’s privacy program.
  • Partner with privacy staff and business stakeholders to execute on projects across subject areas, including training and awareness, communications, privacy threshold assessments, privacy impact assessments, records of processing activity (ROPA), privacy by design, data subject rights requests, incident response and mitigation, and reporting.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with privacy staff and business stakeholders.
  • Assist the Company with meeting its legal obligations with the CCPA and other privacy laws.
  • Provide privacy guidance and support to various departments within the Company.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments of programs, systems, products, and services.
  • Maintain privacy-related notices, policies, standards, guidelines, and processes.
  • Administer privacy training and awareness campaigns.
  • Assist with administering annual compliance reviews.
  • Assist in responding to privacy-related customer/public inquiries.
  • Provide support for  the records management program by providing guidance and assistance to business stakeholders. 

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • 2+ years’ experience in Privacy, Law, Compliance, Technology or other relevant field.
  • Knowledge of U.S. privacy laws.
  • Understanding of data privacy principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to perform projects with tight and evolving deadlines.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office applications Word, Excel, Power Point and SharePoint, and a willingness to learn and use new tools and technologies.
  • Bachelors degree required.
  • CIPP certification or willingness to obtain certification.
