Sourcing Manager Procurement - Travel

JCPenney Procurement is seeking a Travel Manager with 5-7 years related experience to support JCPenney’s corporate travel policies and programs, to oversee all travel operations and arrangements, to ensure traveler Duty of Care, and to manage relationships with internal stakeholders and vendors. You will work within Procurement to champion improved processes with lower expense and decreased risk to the business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage travel sourcing activities
  • Supervise JCPenney travel agents; provide oversight to back office travel agency supporting JCPenney travel agents
  • Negotiate contracts and/or rates with service providers
  • Work closely with the HR Corporate Events team to ensure corporate meetings are flawlessly planned at best cost to the organization
  • Ensure compliance to policies, programs and procedures
  • Execute a disciplined strategic sourcing process with a focus on continuous improvement in total cost, innovation, quality and service
  • Interface successfully with the company’s various business units and departments to ensure collaborative, timely and effective approaches
  • Negotiate preferable costs and contract terms on behalf of internal stakeholders in the best interest of JCPenney with suppliers
  • Identify cost reduction initiatives through data analysis and strategic collaboration with business and finance stakeholders
  • Implement supplier management techniques to drive increased value
  • Ensure Duty of Care for travelling associates
  • Provide relevant reporting to leadership; present updates as necessary to executive leadership
  • Provide oversight to other projects as may be required from time to time

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • Undergraduate / BS degree with 5-7 years related industry experience.
  • Proven experience as a travel manager
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office
  • Working knowledge of CTM/GDS solutions
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills and maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both with internal business clients at all levels of the organization and with vendors
  • Must possess excellent senior leadership (C-Suite) relationship skills, managing travel concerns of the chief executives
  • Be able to perform in a demanding environment while juggling multiple competing priorities
