Manages the development and implementation of Company Supply Chain policies by providing Supply Chain-related services and programs to operating management; provides counsel and assistance on Distribution-related matters, and assures the effective communication of Supply Chain programs.

Manages the development and implementation of major programs, as assigned, in the areas of Supply Chain support.

Consults with management and non-management Associates in all parts of the Company concerning the operation and development of assigned Supply Chain-related programs.

2. Establishes or helps to establish Supply Chain standards, controls and measurements for operating management’s use.

3. Counsels Associates at senior management levels on the implementation and operation of Supply Chain-related programs and whenever appropriate, disseminates new Supply Chain management techniques and approaches to Company management.

4. Supports the development of professional Supply Chain activities and attitudes throughout the Company.

5. Evaluates or supports the evaluation of Company Supply Chain-related programs and activities to help assure that Supply Chain policies are implemented.

2. Works with other Home Office departments involved in the development and operation of Supply Chain-related programs.

College degree preferred. Graduate training in management or in a related discipline is desirable though not mandatory.


A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible business and/or public sector experience is required for this position. Experience in managing people and/or project management is prerequisite, as is experience in working with senior management of a large organization. Knowledge of the Penney Company and its operations, work in related activities, and/or consulting skills are desirable though not mandatory.

Core/Positional Competencies:

Work may require special skills when involved in interface with outside consultants. Project management ability and the ability to work with and negotiate with user departments. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Ability to write and speak effectively in formal and informal settings. Requires the ability to train and lead a staff who provides sophisticated Supply Chain services to client departments.
