Manager – Final Mile Network Support

This position will be based in the JCPenney Plano, Texas office and will report to the Director of Domestic Transportation. This position will be a key member of the Domestic Transportation leadership team and partners closely with the Home Operations / Home MAT teams to meet cost and service goals. The manager will also be responsible for the Final Mile returns and claim process and the Final Mile associates in Manchester and Lenexa.

The position will be accountable for the alignment between the Home Operations / Home MAT teams and the Final Mile network execution team to ensure the flow of merchandise from our CDA network to our customers meet customer satisfaction requirements. This lead will manage the final mile network returns strategy and claims processes to ensure timely inventory reconciliation and collection of all carrier claims. The individual will create a metric system that monitors and reports the efficiency of the team.

This role requires extensive cross-functional partnership with various home office, finance, field, and external partners to meet the needs of the business while identifying best practices for the field associates. The ideal candidate should be self-driven and a highly motivated and inquisitive manager that is comfortable working in a fast paced, retail environment managing internal relationships and managing a team in a remote environment. He/she should have the ability to influence others with superior communication skills.

Job responsibilities include:

  1. Primary contact and resource for the Home Operations / Home MAT teams. Attends weekly operations meeting with Home Operations / Home MAT teams.
  2. Leads field team comprised of 2 supervisors and 15 associates. Monitors staffing levels, productivity, and accuracy of work.
  3. Manages network returns volume and strategy to achieve reliable and cost-effective solutions.
  4. Manage team, develop exceptional talent, and encourage your team to challenge assumptions.
  5. Recommend, develop, and implement returns, claims and liquidation policies and programs.
  6. Responsible for the execution of the product liquidation strategy to ensure contracted service level agreements and budgeted operating costs are being met; decisively develops plans for any gaps in performance.
  7. Builds and maintains proactive communication with Salt Lake City claims team to support mutually beneficial business relationships improving near and long-term capabilities.
  8. Develops and leads all pilot programs centered around improving the returns/claims process.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in a business discipline from an accredited college preferred.

Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results.

Experience in a business partnering role and ability to work with business leaders to understand and communicate business requirements.

Ability to operate at both the strategic and implementation level.

Continuous improvement mind set, including the ability to innovate and simplify legacy processes.

Travel – Up to 25%.
