JCPenney is looking for an experienced Marketing Researcher who is eager to add value, and to do interesting work as a valued member of the Marketing team. This position is data-intensive and will challenge both your research and analysis skills. Insights produced by this team inform business decisions in Marketing and beyond, including those by senior executive leaders. The Manager for Customer Marketing Research is responsible for developing, executing, and analyzing primary research to drive an understanding of our customers. As the manager, you will be instrumental in leading the research function for the marketing organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Mange the portfolio of customer focused primary research and work proactively to drive value from customer insights across the organization
  • Develop and design research instruments (surveys, discussion guides) and sampling techniques to gather data with the highest standards
  • Execute and lead research studies independently
  • Work collaboratively with the Customer Analytics & CRM teams to ensure high quality, cohesive analysis and maximized impact
  • Consult with advertisers and agencies to create research plans that test advertising effectiveness
  • Lead quantitative and qualitative studies from start-to-finish and present results both internally and externally
  • Build and manage a system of research partners to support research initiatives
  • Analyze primary research results to foster insights and strategic guidance
  • Identify opportunities to combine disparate data sources to uncover new insight
  • Communicate complex insights and strategic guidance
  • Consult with internal stakeholders on how to leverage research and maximize return on research investments

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Finance, Computer Science, or Mathematics
  • 5 years’ experience in primary market research
  • Knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research techniques
  • Proficient written communication skills
  • Project management
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving
  • Proficient in statistical modeling
  • Proficient in Tableau, R and Python
  • Strong organization and leading projects
