The General Manager in Training (GMIT) will work along side the General Manager to gain full understanding of a GM role. The GMITwill demonstrate their own Assistant General Manager knowledge while learning the skills and job scope of a General Manager. This position will be part of an all inclusive training and development program that will last 9-12 months. This program will incorporate hands on training in addition to traditional classroom training that will allow you to master skills needed to become a General Manager. At the end of the 9-12 month training program, the candidate should be able to manage and administer all operations of a Logistics Center to ensure the most cost efficient and timely distribution of merchandise consistent with company standards of service to attain divisional sales and profit objectives.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Manages the administration, operations, service and staffing for the Logistics Center to ensure efficient, accurate and timely shipments to customers and Stores.
  • Coordinates all activities of the Logistics Center, effectively communicates the Company’s objectives, and presents operational issues to Supply Chain management.
  • Manages and evaluates the quality of service provided by the Center through review and analysis of data and reports to ensure high service standards and operating efficiencies.
  • Manage, own and report out on the financial performance of the cost center which results in the leveraging of the assets.
  • Manages all processes and procedures within the units to ensure high standards and operating procedures. Protects Company assets by supporting and maintaining effective programs for human resources relations, loss prevention, inventory control, safety, facility/equipment and claims processing.
  • Leads a Customer First business approach ensuring merchandise is delivered by in-store date or customer promise date in an accurate, damage free manner.

 

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

 

  • College degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • 12+ years experience in logistics operations involving progressive managerial responsibilitiy in an operations capacity
  • Core competencies should be centered around decision making, communications, building talent, leading people, and drive for results

 

Key Relationships:

Develop and sustain relations ships with appropriate associates in Supply Chain Management and other Home Office departments, such as Industrial Engeneering, Systems, Inventory Control, Controller, Human Resources, Advertising, Marketing, Construction Services and Legal.
