  • Ensures company maintains low risk importer status by overseeing security and entry compliance of 45,000 shipments annually.
  • Manage duty payment program – ensuring U.S. Customs duties are paid timely and accurately.
  • Manages the First Sale program strategy to ensure the forecasted annual savings is achieved.
  • Manages the First Sale case study, onboarding, duty refund claims, and ongoing audits to ensure compliance.
  • Manages the First Sale Time of Entry program that includes Supplier and IBO oversight.
  • Manages Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) Annual Certification
  • Oversees Portfolio tool for department records retention.

· Manages post entry and self-audit compliance programs for JCPPC

  • Manages Conflict Minerals program including risk assessment and survey analytics.

· Directs and oversees Management and Sr. Specialist associates for assigned work streams, business process and supported applications.

· Develops Associates by providing timely mentoring, performance feedback and opportunities for growth.

· Maintains awareness of key company initiatives and makes recommendations to leadership on direction. Ensures team’s work and business improvement efforts are in alignment.

· Develops strategic relationships with Sourcing Directors & Sourcing VP, IBO leadership, Supply Chain Leadership, Business Owners, Stakeholders and Executive Sponsors to drive business outcomes and improved business processes for first sale and post entry compliance.

· Develops a strong partnership with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to include Customs Account Manager, CBP Center of Excellence and others at Customs to address issues or process changes that impact trade.

· Maintains an awareness of best in class Trade Compliance business processes and systems and applies this knowledge to JCPenney.

  • Leads and executes special projects as determined by Sr. Director.
  • Identify compliance concerns to Sr. Director or other key partners by identifying areas requiring improvement and implementing process improvements to resolve problems

  • Bachelor’s Degree required -undergraduate degree or comparable business experience involving global business management, international trade, international business, sourcing, regulatory analysis, or other related fields of study or experience, e.g. customs broker, government, import operations, legal.
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Experience: 15+ years of international business, import, export & regulatory compliance experience required.
