Senior Manager -Point of Sale

The Sr. Manager will be based in US and manage the Point of Sale team with responsibility for new features, compliance and stability of the application within the context of the stores and digital ecosystem. This position will be leading a team of software engineers in delivery at our US location while working closely with the Bangalore POS team and business partners to drive functional capabilities of customer facing Point of Sale application.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep understanding of software development practices, with some familiarity deployment architectures across thousands of end points and devices. You will be expected to improve team agility through coaching and implementing best practices for development, automated testing, automated deployment, etc. Need to have an attitude that embraces Agile practices and automation. You will lead issue resolution as needed during major incidents that impact store selling capabilities. You will have an understanding of the technical underpinnings of security architecture as it pertains to PCI compliance and addressing any software/hardware vulnerabilities.

Successful candidate will have a background in developing customer facing experiences, strong technical acumen, excellent project management and organizational skills, great communication skills, a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate will work together with the business operations and product team to plan and execute projects, ensure that teams have appropriate requirements, direction, and resources to deliver effectively. Be responsible for prioritizing engineering priorities for the team to ensure stability and performance while balancing against functional features. Help software engineers resolve both technical problems as well as human resources issues. Provide guidance & coaching to motivate, and lead team members (direct reports) to their optimum performance levels and career development.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of software engineers focused on technical architecture, design, development and delivery of customer facing applications for stores.
  • Collaborate with the architecture, business, infrastructure & operations teams to contribute to development of the POS eco-system roadmap
  • Ensure extensibility, supportability, performance & scalability of the POS platform
  • Direct and participate in cross-functional delivery of large-scale, complex projects often involving multiple internal and external teams
  • Plan and manage scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed upon time, cost and quality
  • Validate financial forecasts and provide ongoing reconciliation of resources and project costs
  • Oversee software development efforts, engaging in architectural choices as necessary
  • Manage, coach, and develop the analytical and technical skills of team members
  • Lead others to work effectively in a strong customer service/team oriented environment

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:
  • 7+ years of development and architecture of large scale eco-system roadmap
  • 3+ years of success leading the development of customer facing retail solutions
  • 3+ years of proven ability to lead a team of highly technical software engineering staff and earn trust of team members and stakeholders
  • 3+ years of experience in Agile Methodology
  • Retail domain required with POS experience as a preferred trait
  • Exceptional technical and non-technical presentation and communication skills
  • Proven knowledge of application development lifecycle and project management discipline
  • Significant technical experience as software developer, software development manager, or related role
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
