Senior Engineer - Platform Engineering

Primary Responsibilities:

• Platform Engineering functions, including:
  • Application Development using Java/Springboot
  • Application Testing
  • Cloud + Container Engineering
  • Experience in service mesh Istio implementation
  • EKS/Kubernetes experience
  • No SQL Database /Cassandra experience
  • Persistence Engineering - Databases, Caching and Storage solutions
  • On board new capabilities to the cloud platform in a timely fashion
  • Engage in PoCs of new tooling to support changing requirements

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

• Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent field with 2 years' experience
• 7+ years in Programming and Software Development, including strong hands on experience in:
  • Strong Java and Spring Boot background, some Python, and NodeJS scripting
  • AWS Cloud Engineering
  • EKS/Kubernetes
  • Strong experience (4+ years) with Jenkins, Gradle, Selenium WebDriver, Sonar, Veracode
  • 4+ years of experience with AWS using S3, EC2, Apache Spark
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, javascript, and BDD frameworks like Cucumber
  • Containerization (Docker), orchestrated using Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
  • Persistence Engineering - both NoSQL (preferably Cassandra), and Relational (PostgreSQL)
  • Demonstrable understanding of Netflix OSS stack (particularly Zuul and Eureka)
  • Istio/Service Mesh implementation
• Experience with building microservices using cutting edge technologies
• Quick learner with a great can-do attitude, open to on and off site training
• Experience working in Agile methodology
• Good communication and collaboration skills
