Engineer 2 - Big Data Analytics

We are looking for an Engineer II, Technology | Data to drive and deliver large, cross-functional projects. Based in our Technology organization, this role involves working directly with the Technology Team and Product Partner to deliver data products based on business requirements in supporting our corporate strategies.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participates in helping leadership define the future vision, solution architecture, and roadmap of Technology systems/platforms for their areas of responsibility by working across functional and technical disciplines.
• Participates in the development of non-functional requirements and reviews architecture and design of new solutions.
• Able to explain technical issues to the business or Technology leadership in non-technical, understandable terms and provides technical leadership to junior engineers.
• Contribute to developing a high-performance data platform, integrating data from a variety of internal and external sources, to create certified data domains to support current and future analytics and data science needs
• Provide expertise for the specification, development, implementation, and support of Analytical solutions (e.g., Hive, Hadoop, EMR, Python, Spark, Redshift, Spark, NiFi, Sqoop, Kafka, YARN)
• Build and deliver projects with high impact and cross-portfolio scope, complexity, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, both business and technology
• Evaluate, identify, and offer innovative options and solutions
• Interact with business teams to gather, interpret, and understand their business needs and create detailed design specifications
• Foster the continuous evolution of best practices within the development team to ensure data quality, standardization, and consistency

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

• Ability to lead medium tasks/projects/efforts with medium scope and complexity and heavy collaboration with cross-functional teams, both business and IT
• Limited ability to evaluate and offer innovative solutions
• Works independently with minimum supervision
• Derives portfolio ownership and management for some tasks
• SME and point of contact in limited areas of expertise, demonstrating limited breadth and depth
• Experience working with global teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years' data engineering experience
• 3+ years' experience with Big Data technology and analytics
• Proficient in query languages (SQL and Hive)
• Experience with one or more languages (Python, PySpark, Scala, Java)
• Bachelor's degree in technology or related field
• Experience with agile software development and project management tools
• Retail experience is a plus
